Welcome to the new website for the Rotary Club of Mitchell River.
Our rotary club was chartered in June 1981 and over the past 36 years our club has taken an active role in many Community and International Projects under the Rotary Banner.
We are particularly proud of our Rotary Junior Community Award Program that encourages Year 6 Primary School Children to become engaged with their neighbours and the greater community. This program was formulated and initially commenced in Bairnsdale some 20 years ago and is now conducted right across Australia and in some other countries.
An important part of our monthly calendar is the Paynesville Farmer's and Maker's Market that showcases the finest produce and crafts of locals. Since assuming responsibility for the market it has undergone a makeover and change of venue that has seen it become a premier produce market in the area.
On Easter Saturday this year the Club in conjunction with the East Gippsland Shire hosted the Paynesville Food Van Fiesta which was very well patronised and has set us up to plan, promote and manage the 2019 event in our own right which is testament to our standing within the community.
Our club has for a number of years hosted the annual Australia Day Breakfast and Awards ceremony in Bairnsdale and actively raises and distributes funds to a variety of local groups each year. Recent recipients include the CFA, Centenary House and the Paynesville Volunteer Coastguard.
